Setting: MeadowClan camp

"As leader, I would usually say 'All cats old enough...' blah blah blah, but I see most cats are already here."

At this a few warriors and apprentices flicked their tails in amusement, but most cats were to down-hearted at Sparrowstar's death to notice Fawnstar's subtle joke.

"Anyways, as most of you have heard by now, Sparrowstar has joined the ranks of StarClan. We all grieve, but now our old leader is hunting in the great forests of StarClan. But, there is more to his story. He had an unusual connection with StarClan even before he joined them. Many prophecies were given to him, including one final one. The prophecy described the next cat to be leader. I was the cat." Here, Fawnstar stopped, reflecting on the moments she had just spoken, "Now it is my turn to lead MeadowClan! I intend to continue Sparrowstar's amazing leadership. And as my first decision as leader, I will choose my deputy!

"I say these words before StarClan that the spirit of Sparrowstar may hear and approve of my choice. The deputy of MeadowClan is Scarletflare!"

Just as Fawnstar had predicted, many cats gasped in shock. Scarletflare had only been a warrior a few moons, but that didn't mean she wasn't a good warrior. "I believe Scarletflare possesses the qualities of a deputy. She will hopefully follow me in being leader." Even that didn't calm some of the cats.

"Look! As a warrior you all trusted me to make good choices, why do you doubt me now?"

This quieted all of them.

Setting: CrystalClan territory

Deep in the forests of CrystalClan, Treefoot was having trouble with Lilaceyes as usual.

Why wouldn’t Glowingstar listen to her? No cat would listen to her. None of them even acknowledged her being able to breathe and think. Only her mom was nice enough to talk with her.

“Treefoot! I told you to hunt over there! Why won’t you hear me out? You’re only a young warrior so how could you know any better?” Lilaceyes was especially bossy and mean today. Good thing Treefoot was feeling especially low.

“You’re right, I should hunt over there were there is hardly any prey ever, so you can hunt were all the prey is and get all the recognition,” Treefoot muttered.

Setting: MeadowClan camp clearing
Once the cats had quieted down, Scarletflare carefully walked to the Stone Tree. She bowed respectfully, but in her mind, a million thoughts were buzzing. Why was I chosen as deputy? I'm only a new warrior! Did Ravenfeather know all of this? She seems quite happy... Will I still be able to see Fox? The flame-colored cat hoped she would rightfully fulfill her role.
"I will try my hardest to serve my Clan." She said, looking up at their new leader. The meeting ended with chants of "Fawnstar! Scarletflare! Fawnstar!"

Setting: CrystalClan camp

"Glowingstar, I know I've told you this before, but I want to bring up, again, Lilaceyes. She just won't listen to me! I have good ideas but no cat at all thinks they are good. Just because I'm a young warrior doesn't mean I can't think! And when Lilaceyes became warrior, everyone practically obeyed her. Her ideas were those of an apprentice!"

"Treefoot, all cats in CrystalClan respect one another. Why can't you treat Lilaceyes with that same respect?"

"Because she doesn't treat me with respect!"

"Maybe she has a good reason for putting you down."

"How can you say that? I gave a good reason and you ignored me!"

Treefoot shook her head clear. The conversation in her mind was not real. In reality it could possibly go completely opposite of what she had just dreamt.

Yeah, right. You and I both know it's going to be exactly the same.

But, we have to stay optimistic.

Good luck with that.

After more thinking, Treefoot set out for the leader's den.

Setting: CrystalClan Nursery
Happykit skipped around joyfully. There was no one in the nursery, so she could play all she wanted. Her mother, Ripplepond, had died, and her father had gone crazy and left as a rogue.
"The lunatic," she muttered. Happykit looked out of the entryway. She saw Treefoot's wood-colored pelt swish by. "Hmm..." She said, then quietly stalked out of the nursery, using the warrior's tail as guidance. She found that they were going to the leader's den. "This'll be fun!" The kit stayed in the shadows, making sure Treefoot didn't see her.

As Treefoot was walking toward glowingstar's den, she noticed tiny pawsteps behind her. Happykit. The only kit in the nursery, Happykit was always getting in trouble. I'll let her play her game and then when I enter the leader's den, Glowingstar will punish her.

"What?" Treefoot acted suprised, "Happykit! What did you do?"

"Fox Dung!" The kit muttered, then she put on her best 'I'm an innocent little kit! Aren't I cute?' face. "Glowingstar, hi! I was just curious, and I couldn't resist seeing what was going on. I'm sorry. I'll go right back to the nursery and punish myself by letting me eat extra fresh-kill tonight." Happykit started out.
"Stop! I'm not done with you." Glowingstar hissed.

"Glowingstar, I realized Happykit was following me and I thought you would like to talk to her about her behavior so I let her continue following me. Besides she did stalk me well for a kit."

Happykit puffed out her chest. "You did NOT notice me! You..." But then she noticed the compliment. "Yeah, I'll be the best warrior there is! No one could beat me!"
Glowingstar gave a glare, then said, "Happykit, can you wait outside until Treefoot and I are finished conversing? Then you and I can talk for a while." The kit slunk out.

"Please, my real purpose coming to you was to um, talk about... well. Lilaceyes," Treefoot spoke the she-cat's name softly, "Again. I know you didn't want me to come to you again, but it's just, well.."

Setting: CrystalClan camp, outside Leader's Den
Happykit swished her small tail along the ground. Why am I always in trouble? She thought glumly. Then she heard bits of the conversation coming from the leader's den. The kit smiled, then crept silently into the den, in the shadows. The two cats kept talking, not noticing her. Happykit hid under Glowingstar's nest and listened.

"We have talked about this Treefoot. You are clearly overreacting. Lilaceyes is one of the nicest cats I know."

"But-"

"No! Please leave now so I may talk with Happykit."
